Behind-the-Scenes with Robin Hood
You probably know Hamish and Angie – but have you met our other behind-the-scenes characters?
Meet Robin Hood, who acts as ArcheryPlus sentinel and guards the garage from marauding auks.
Robin began life as a slab of pine in the UK, from Sherwood Forest to be exact. Many years ago Angie and her brother were given scroll images of Robin Hood from the visitor centre in Sherwood Forest, home to the legendary archer. Both children were a bit scared of the images because of Robin Hood’s all-seeing eyes, which seemed to follow them around, and the scrolls were duly shoved in a drawer.
Angie’s Dad, Carl, who was a very skilled carpenter/joiner procured the slab of pine and carved the same image that had spooked his kids. Cleverly, he repeated the eyes with such attention to detail that the kids were again spooked by the image. To this day, neither Angie nor her brother like walking past our man Robin. Sadly, Carl passed away last August and we thought it fitting, in light of our core business and as a salute to Carl, to display Robin for all visitors to enjoy.
